The Yowel Development Process
As a recovering germaphobe, I used to go through a lot of paper towels. One day, I decided to stop using them and bought washable towels on Amazon. I cut them to size, placed them in a container on my counter and, to my surprise, I never used paper towels again. This led me to wonder how the idea could spread, and Yowel was born. I worked with an attorney to begin the patent process, learned CAD and 3D printing, and made prototypes for months. The first time my dad (an even bigger paper towel offender than me) saw a Yowel, he loved it and became a co-founder. We brought on investors and hired an industrial designer and a Kickstarter marketing firm. Our launch yielded $100K in orders. My dad took over as chief Yoweler and still runs the company in his retirement.
